Volunteer
Maintaining a vibrant, God-centered, loving congregation requires active participation and service from its members, especially in a smaller congregation such as ours. Some of the ongoing opportunities for service within the church are:
  • Greeting before worship services
  • Ushering
  • Accompanying as pianists, organists
  • Nursery/childcare supervision
  • Visiting elderly members
  • Providing transportation to elderly and those with special needs
  • Organizing fellowship activities
  • Serving on the following committees: Active in Missions, Evangelism, Fellowship, Library, Newsletter, Helping Hands, or Nursery

Outreach
Jail Ministry
Every other month, six men from the congregation conduct chapel services at the Kent County Jail on a Sunday afternoon. Three men each time conduct several 45 minute services for different groups at the jail. This activity is sponsored by First Church's evangelism committee.

Reformed Witness Hour
The Reformed Witness Hour is a weekly, half hour radio broadcast, aired twice each Sunday on radio stations across the country. The Reformed Witness Hour Committee, overseen by our congregation, seeks to share the truth of the gospel over the radio with those in our communities. Locally these broadcasts can be heard each Sunday at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on WFUR, 102.9 FM and 1570 AM. Visit the Reformed Witness Hour website.

Missions
Active in Missions (AIM)
AIM is a committee of our church that seeks to involve individuals in the service of Reformed mission activities, primarily those of our own denomination. Some of these activities include: collecting goods and books for use on our mission fields, finding penpals for believers living on our mission fields, encouraging our missionaries, holding events and creating materials to increase awareness among our members of the on-going mission needs and efforts.

Denominational Mission Work
We actively support our denominational missionaries. Learn more about our domestic and foreign mission work.
